Amtrak in Anderson, South Carolina - Delay, delay, and more delay...

2.0
Details
When I moved to US coming from Europe I had a dream that I could rely on public transport... I regret moving already... I rely on a train that leaves Clemson theoretically at 5h39, however 90% of the times it is delayed. Public transport and overall transport here is so bad that the taxis do not work at 4am neither the bus. Alternatives? Walk. With my luggage, during 1h10, without public lighting, without side walks, and now during the cold of the winter. Being that the university advices you (as a girl) to not walk, alone, after dark, in empty places... I have no choice... The station is a joke... no service, no information, no heating, no comfort... Place to park your bike? Maybe in 100 years... The return trip is never better... I usually should take the train at 8pm, on Sundays, from Atlanta... yesterday it was almost 3h late. The staff tells that 'exceptionally' and 'unfortunately' the train has a delay... it is a lie, as most of the times these train is not on time... Station is awful as well... uncomfortable seats, no food (except from vending machines). Service is terrible too. Today I tried to call to ask for a refund. It took me hours. Lots of transferences. No one can solve. Finally to be informed that no refund is provided if you took the train. What??? What am I supposed to do? Buy a donkey...

Amtrak in Spartanburg, South Carolina - Shotty customer service

My family was on an Amtrak for 2 days to be abandoned in an infested and dilapidated part of Gastonia NC with no lighting or no staff. This was a miserable experience and I will never pay $500 again to receive this kind of service. Had it not been for a local cab driver my family would have been out there all alone across the street from a condemned slaughterhouse. My family included a 5 year old and a 3 year old. I have never been so disappointed in my life to hear that this is a subcontracted rail station who the employee gets paid to decide she doesn't want to open the station. Never, Never Never again will we travel using Amtrak.
