We just returned from our Amtrak trip reservation 584B26. Our trip to Sandpoint, Idaho from St. Cloud Minnesota was nine hours longer than schedule. This was due to a broken rail, brake and wheel repair to our train. When we arrived in Sandpoint our car wouldnt start due to the fact that it sat an additional nine hours in the cold, however, accolades to Amtrak employee Maggie Mjelde. She went above and beyond and helped us contact personnel to start our vehicle and kept the depot open in the 20 below weather until our Help arrived. She was an exemplary employee. Unfortunately, our return trip was a nightmare. There were many open seats and most had only one person occupying. We are 75 and 76,Amtrak's promised to make a pleasant trip for seniors (number five on the Amtrak website) didnt happen. After sitting side-by-side for five hours we asked one of the conductors if we could use the seat across the aisle as it was empty, he consented.we had finally fallen asleep in our separate seats when we were very rudely awakened by a conductor that just came on the train Bradley was his name. His demeanor and body language were very unfriendly and self-important. We were told we must occupy the seats next to each other. He then put a reserve sign across from our seats. That seat remained empty for the next mini hours, and there were no stops. He then seated another elderly woman who must have come from another car in that seat, she had two seats, while the two of us struggled with our limited space in our car. There were six pairs of unoccupied seats with no one in either of the seats. I find it hard to understand why we should be penalized for traveling together, we pay the same amount of money as the other passengers. This was our third round-trip on Amtrak from St. Cloud to Sandpoint Idaho. We can handle the delays due to weather, but the rude treatment that we receive from Bradley will probably mean we won't travel Amtrak. sincerely, Virginia, Peters, James Leonard.

Took a round trip from Kissimmee to Savannah Georgia.Train silver meteor 98 staffing were great and the train was kept very clean.The way back home, silver meteor 97 was not only dirty but the staff was horrific. Unfriendly. In fact very rude and nasty towards white people.The tables in the dining area were also very filty. Needs major sanitation. I would shut the diner down due to sanitation reasons.

About refund info

Cancelled ticket got refund info was promised refund. Didn't get it had to produce my ticket info. Didn't get refund. Was told 6-8 weeks. After agreeing to 5-7 days. I will fly from no on. I still don't have refund.

Non- maintenance

I have been a regular user of ACELA since its beginning. For the last few years, the bathrooms have been wretched. And to say the exterior of ALL the trains is filthy is an understatement. Amtrack has no shame. It somehow manages to pay the leaders over ample wages- at the expense of people like me - and I believe Amtrack should step up and do the right thing. It is a for profit- but obviosly does not deal like a business In the real world

Failed miserably.

Four years ago my wife and I booked the "empire builder", from Chicago,to Seattle, to l.a., then Chicago. We paid more than $8,000.00 cash,months in advance. We arrived at union station the morning of departure,to discover the trip was cancelled!(mudslide in Emeryville). No phone call,no courtesy,nothing! Forget Amtrak! The U.S. Gov't continues to prop up this MONSTROUS failure! An embarrassment to our great nation!

For a refund,got food poisoning

This trip on Amtrak has been very difficult.I got food poisoning on Fri Dec21,2023.Diarrhea and vomiting for hours,and also I pushed the button in 4 bathrooms to get some help cause I had thrown up in the sink and I wanted someone to clean it before somebody went in to use it.Well no one answered the help button.Talked to the conductor about a refund and why no one answered the call for help.The conductor explained that if no one is in the room to monitor the help calls then u will get no help.I told the conductor that,thats NOT exceptable

Train was very much late picking me up in Portland after having a 3 hr lay over there . Very unpleasant situation when you are waiting and waiting and are supposed to be to your destination at a certain time I had appointments I needed to be at and missed them because of this .

Billing disagreement

Changed twice for one ticket on same day. I went to PVD from NYC on ticket number #301 066****422 and paid by credit card. My current statement from my credit card company shows a second charge for the same trip but this ticket number is different from the previous credit card charge. This ticket # Is 301 301****550972. So I am being charged with TWO tickets at $276 for my solo trip.I obviously want to have one ticket charge cancelled 617947****

Lost suit case 31 August filled out paperwork no contact
