Amtrak suck

On June 8 2019 me in my husband decided to take the train to Miami to catch our flight out the country.Big mistake the train was late to pick us up. It was supposed to be a 20 hr train ride, that was a lie. We boarded the the at 10 at night.we was supposed to be in Miami by 6/9/2019 at 6 our train was leaving at 8 sad to say we ended up getting of the train somewhere in Florida to Uber like 130 to 2 hours to Miami so we wouldn’t miss our plane. Amtrak say the would refund $76 of my money to me not even what we had to paid Uber which was more smh I was ok with even though it took my from my trip. Well now it’s a problem again i called last week when we got back n the country, this week it’s all kind of *** for my money to be returned to my card. This is the first and last time we will ever ride a train

Well, it could have been worse. You could have taken the Greyhound Bus. I have known many passengers (myself included) who were so disgusted with everything that they got off of the bus and hitch-hiked the rest of the way to their destination, and got there alot quicker than if they had stayed on that dog.

Worst website in the world

website is near impossible to use, when you search for trains the site creates a small sub-screen at the bottom so you can only see one train at a time, this is way beyond stupid

Website drove me insane

Amtrak's website for reservations used to be pretty straightforward but today I drove myself to insanity trying to make it work for me. After many attempts to secure a reservation I gave up and called their 800 number. It was a bit of a wait but MUCH easier and got it done in about 7 minutes with a friendly operator. FIX YOUR WEBSITE AMTRAK! IT'S AWFUL!

Sunday Experience

My sister and I are both older. We boarded and Acela Train in Washington DC at one o clock and went to New York. After reading comments like these on this website and others, we were both a bit hesitant. Still Amtrak is the most convenient from city to city, and off we went. The Conductor greeted us cheerfully, recognized that I needed help during the trip, even getting food for us from the club car. When the train got to New York, he made sure a porter helped us from the train to the taxi stand. With all of the negative comments about the staff, I think it's worthwhile to praise those who really deserve it. He deserves it and then some. Bless you sir, Bless you.

Amtrak's "Website" is a Broken "TRAIN-WRECK" (how appropriate)

Amtrak's website is a mess. I'm an I.T. professional AND a website designer. It is IMPOSSIBLE to actually get through all the broken *** to actually find EVEN prices for a round trip. The site fails, gives bogus error messages and can't "fight its way out of (its own) web paper bag." PATHETIC

SUSPICOUS LOOKING & NERVOUS TRAVELER SCARED OF BEING RIPPED OFF BY AMTRAK.

I have been thinking about taking a cross country trip on Amtrak, but I am extremely hesitant to do so because I have a very large stash of cash that I would be bringing with me and also I would be paying for my one way ticket with cash at the last minute. I am afraid that I will be flagged for paying with cash for a last minute one way ticket and that the cops will search me and seize all of my cash claiming that it is drug related.(it's not!) So, I guess that I will just have to find another means of getting to my destination, because I have read all of the reviews on this P.O.'d website about people having their money stolen. Also, I am extremely shy and nervous whenever I go out into public and would come across as being very suspicious to the Amtrak employees. And on top of all of that, I am scared of the train derailing and becoming injured in the wreckage. I guess that I'll just be going Greyhound and I'll leave the driving and the ripping off for for food, drink & snacks to them. Once, when the Greyhound stopped for the Border Patrol, I was sitting in the backseat and was very tired and bored, so once I saw that we were going to be delayed by the Border Patrol, I spread out onto those back three seats and took a nap. A Border Patrol officer saw me, and came aboard the bus and rudely roused me and made me get up and get off the bus and take my belongings with me where he searched through all of my *** and grilled me with questions. He said that when he saw me lay down after seeing him through the window that he thought that I was trying to hide from them and that he was searching through all of my stuff because he thought that I may be a drug smuggler. Also, he said that he thought that it was very suspicious how nervous I was. Thank goodness that I didn't have a stash of cash with me then, or else it would have been seized for suspicion of it being "drug related". Maybe I should just wire my stash of cash through Wal-Mart to pick up at the Wal-Mart in the city where I am going to. That way, the crooks at Amtrak can't seize it from me when they have the cops search me for being so suspicious looking(I tremble like a leaf, and nervously look around) Also, all of the shady looking characters riding with me make me get really scared and nervous as well.

Amtrak Website Sucks

Been trying for an hour to buy tickets on there website. Have gotten no where. Been trying to get tickets from Providence to Washington. Looks like I’ll be driving.

Disgusting bathrooms

Rode 36 hours. Bathrooms apparently never cleaned, one had fecal matter for last 10 hours of trip. After 12 hours, all bathrooms were so unsanitary that I believe they were a health risk. Reached Kansas City Station and bathrooms were even more appalling. My opinion, you risk your health by riding Amtrak.

Forgot to mention, my grandfather and father were railroad engineers (not Amtrak). I loved the ride and the relaxed style of travel, BUT not worth the health risk.

Afterwards an Amtrak ticket agent said it was my fault for not complaining.

Classy response huh. My opinion, you substantially risk your health if you travel Amtrak.

Lost Luggage

AMTRAK failed to check my luggage at Indiapolis IN station and at Chicago station. Learned that carry on is not a duffle bag but any luggage not checked. And you are responsible for getting your luggage on and off. I did not know this and it was not communicated to me. I was redcapped due to disability. BEAUTIFUL service. They found my luggage. I will pick it up today. Problem resolved.

Lousy Online Service

I purchase a train ticket to travel to Houston, TX. I do not like purchasing online; howecer, since I could find a customer service number for them via websites I viewed, my only was purchasing ticket purchase online. December 18, 2018, I departed. Louisville, KY via Greyhound bus at 12:05 AM and arrived into Indianapolis, IN Greyhound/AMTRAK station at 2:00 AM. My travel had me arriving one day too early which would have me waiting about 27 hours for next train to Chicago. The agent was kind enough to try getting me on the train. He was successful getting me on 851 Hoosier to Chicago,IL but could not get me on the 21 to Longview, TX. So they sent me back to Louisville to leave out tonight so I can get the train I am scheduled for. Very nice of them. As a result of this online ticket booking, Greyhound lost my luggage. Not AMTRAK's fault. However, I believe if AMTRAK made it more accessible for one to contact a himan scheduling agent, this problem migjt have been avoided. My clothing and business documents are lost and no agent at Greyhound Indiapolis IN gives a hill of beans about it. I like traveling AMTRAK. I fear using them again. If AMTRAK train departs from Louisville KY again, I may use them. PLEASE make contacting human scheduling agents accessible. The human brain would not have one's layover tine to be 27 hours. Horrible and totally unacceptable to arrive four hour late.

We left Houston on December 11,2018 we were one hour late leaving Houston and arrived in Lafayette Louisiana five hour late. Our time to arrive was 5:12PM And we arrived at 10:15 PM. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

May I suggest going Greyhound next time? Or Hitch-Hiking?

If you had hitch-hiked there, it is likely that you could have been picked up by someone who would have driven you all the way to Lafayette without stopping at every little Hick town along the way like Greyhound makes you do. Plus you would have saved yourself alot of money as well.

I PUT 80 YR OLD ON TRAIN FROM FT. WORTH TO SAN MAECUS. TX. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

TRAIN WAS SUPPOSED TO GET IN AT 7.15PM CENTRAL TIME DIDNT GET IN UNTIL 11.PM. NO HELP FROM SERVICE PEOPLE AND BRO IS NEARLY BLIND. JUST BAD SERVICE AND HELP DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHERE TRAIN WAS. BAD COMPANY FOR HELP IF U NEED HELP. HE WAS JUST PICKED UP BY FRIEND. THEY R ALSO GIVING GUY FROM POLAND RIDE TO NEW BRAUNFELS. TO FIND HOTEL. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. AMTRACK NEEDS PEOPLE AT STATIONS TO HELP TRAVELLERS WHEN TRAINS ARE LIKE 4 HOURS LATE. I AM SO MAD AND WAS SO WORRIED AND TALKING TO PEOPLE AT AMTRACK JUST A WASTE OF TIME.
