Rip Off

I booked tickets online on February 1, 2024 for 7 adults and 1 child from New York to Philadelphia. I entered ages to take advantage of the discounts.

The total fare showing online was approximately $321.00. I didn't look at the receipt immediately which was sent to me via email. My group was celebrating my 60th birthday in New York and New Jersey and I had a lot going on.

A few days later, I look at my receipt and find out I was charged $651.20. I was shocked!!!

Of course I called Amtrak and they give me a BS excuse. No way would I have booked those tickets for that amount. We had an option to rent cars, which would have been more cost effective.

We would have just drove instead.

Never, ever taking Amtrak again. My advice is to take a screen shot of what you are quoted online and look at your receipt immediatley.

Lost item

I left a gray horse shoe shaped seat cushion in one of the seats of the Amtrak train on February 2, 2024 departing from Norfolk at 6:14 am and arrived at my destination of Alexandria ,Va with the last stop in New York. For a refund,got food poisoning

This trip on Amtrak has been very difficult.I got food poisoning on Fri Dec21,2023.Diarrhea and vomiting for hours,and also I pushed the button in 4 bathrooms to get some help cause I had thrown up in the sink and I wanted someone to clean it before somebody went in to use it.Well no one answered the help button.Talked to the conductor about a refund and why no one answered the call for help.The conductor explained that if no one is in the room to monitor the help calls then u will get no help.I told the conductor that,thats NOT exceptable

Lost wallet on train

I lost my wallet on the train. I realized it when I got to my hotel.

I had a Tile in the wallet so I could see it was still on the train. I called Amtrak to see what could be done. The first person was not terribly helpful but said she would call the next station it was scheduled to arrive in but that it was a quick stop so she wasn't sure they could look for it. The station master from that station called me and was so helpful.

They didn't find it but she recommended I fill out a form they have and also said she would call the last station on the route, Boston.

The station master from Boston called, they found it and now it is being sent back to me. I paid a fee since I didn't want to go to Boston to get it but it was very easy to use their system

Amtrak - Accommodations

A bus driver on my bus connection from Emeryville to San Francisco would not operate the wheelchair lift for me. He said it had been around 6 months since he used it and did not want to take the time to figure out how to use it again because he had forgotten how to.

He then asked me if I could just walk. I then forced myself to hobble up the stairs and in return hurt myself doing so.

After calling Amtrak to report the incident, the person over the phone tried to make me at fault for not calling Amtrak prior. When I arrived at the station initially, I talked to the people at the desk and informed them I was in a wheelchair (this was my first time traveling with Amtrak while in a wheelchair), and they said I would be accommodated both on the train and bus.

Preferred solution: I would like a direct apology from the bus driver. I did receive a voucher, but I believe it was very unprofessional of the phone operator to blame me for the mistake of the bus driver. I want to make sure this never happens to anyone else.

User's recommendation: I may have been too kind to the phone operator when reporting the incident. Hold your ground even when they try to blame you for their mistakes.

Call button on for 20 minutes, I just turned it off. Last 2 meals buying from Cafe as we have no choice but to sit with someone.

All the meals were cold. Spent the first hour in Amtrack lounge listening to Employee telling us that he made a lot of money, can't get fired if mess's up, just transfered and how all the employees have bad attitude.

Then proceeded to tell us how many cars the trains hit. This is our first time on a train, paid over $2000.00, meals included, and we had to buy the last 2.

Paid over $2000.00 for trip, food included. All meals were never served hot. Customer Service was terrible. You can tell this is a government run operation and the employees can't be fired.

Information from Spokane, WA to Leavenworth, WA Amtrac schedule.

I would like information on the schedule for the Amtrac train route between Spokane, WA and Leavenworth, WA for the month of December 2023.

Run times, departure from Spokane, WA to Arrival in Leavenworth, WA. and return on the same day.

What are the costs per ticket?

Are there accommodations for disabled?

Are there any discounts for Veterans?

Difference between the fast train and the and the regular train.

What sort of accommodations are available on the train? Bar, restaurant?

Transportation to and from the Amtrac Depot to downtown Leavenworth, WA.

Hours of operation for the Spokane, WA and Leavenworth, WA Amtrac stations.

There is a group of 6 to 8 persons who wish to make this trip, so the information would be greatly appreciated.

I can not receive any of the above mentioned information via telephone, nor can I get a live person to talk with. Poor customer service.

Additionally I take offence to the remark "Pissed Off" because I'm not, I'm just very confused as to why I am unable to get this basic information.

As my husband would say "this is a *** of a way to run a railroad".

Non- maintenance

I have been a regular user of ACELA since its beginning. For the last few years, the bathrooms have been wretched. And to say the exterior of ALL the trains is filthy is an understatement. Amtrack has no shame. It somehow manages to pay the leaders over ample wages- at the expense of people like me - and I believe Amtrack should step up and do the right thing. It is a for profit- but obviosly does not deal like a business In the real world

They broke my luggage when I took it off the train I am handicapped, and I needed help getting my luggage off the train. When the conductor grabbed a hold of my bag, they dragged it off and it hit the ground so hard that it broke the wheels off, and it ripped the shell of the luggage and its not repairable.

Train was very much late picking me up in Portland after having a 3 hr lay over there . Very unpleasant situation when you are waiting and waiting and are supposed to be to your destination at a certain time I had appointments I needed to be at and missed them because of this .
