Very hot temperatures can lead to mandated significant speed reductions to avoid damaging the rails.

On long distance routes one should allow an hour or two leeway. You can use various train tracker services and look at historical delays on your route for those stations.

Whose fault is it you turned up with an over sized bag? Yours!

Clearly you have access to the internet.

That access allows you to go to rail road's page and see what you can and can't bring.

The fact that you didn't do it is on you. The fact that you were silly enough to leave a bag behind that shouldn't have been there in the first place because you can't read is yours.

Amtrak - Bathrooms Review from Port Saint Lucie, Florida

traveling from new york penn station to west palm beach wasn't the greastest. It was horrible. I've been traveling on amtrak for over 25 yrs and never did I had a complaint but this time it was terrible. I arrived on the 4th of July from nyc. There was no ac,no pilows mind you its a very long ride more then 24 hrs. 1 hr delay at washington. Amtrak in Haines City, Florida - The Customer Service People LIED to me

I started my morning at the bus station and of course it was already running 10 minutes behind. Then ten minutes passed and I called them again wondering what was up and customer service said oh no it is not going to be in until 12:30 mind you I was already sitting there for an hour an half. So needless to say this is how my day went... I left briefly because my grandfather couldn't sit out for that long. So I came back with my grandmother, and we waited for an hour. I called about 12:15 wondering where they were and they continued to say that it will be there shortly ... I called again at 12:45 and the same thing but this I asked to clarify if there will be an alternate bus but I was reassured multiple times to go on the buss assigned... 1 O'clock came around and the same thing finally 1:50 roles around and they tell me THE BUS ALREADY CAME !!! uhm no mam! There was not a bus with the bus number for me so ... needless to say the bus driver either falsified the information or the bus was substituted. All I can say is Amtrak needs to get there act together. I don't deserve to pay and get lied to.

Amtrak in Sarasota, Florida - Being left on platform with my 8 month baby

Me my Husband, and our 8month old baby were left on the Amtrak platform at 9:30pm in the rain, because the conductor refused to let me pay on the train. So instead of us taking the train we had to pay twice as much as I was planning to because we had to take a taxi to the Gray hound station then pay for 2 tickets to ride the bus. my husband called Amtrak customer service multiple times to ask if we could bring boxes on the train and every time he called he was told yes, as long as they met the proper measurements. which they were smaller than they needed to be. in those boxes was ALL of mine, my husbands, and sons clothes, marriage documents, birth certificates, social security cards, my great grandmother's wedding ring, pictures of my grandfather who just passed away, and my mother's day necklace. I'm not understanding why me and my family were treated with such rudeness & disrespect. But I will be contacting our lawyer today an maybe then "Amtrak" will show more customer appreciation. we will never be taking Amtrak ever again and I will make sure that as many people as I know, know about this trip we experienced and I hope they will no longer purchase from Amtrak.

Why would your husband call several times to ask if you could bring boxes ? if he called once and they said yes, seems like that would be enough.

Maybe one of those calls he should have made a reservation. I will never use Amtrak as a moving service !

paying on the train is a thing of the past due to security reasons and such. Now Amtrak has Etrack scanner deal.

This is for security.

Also the kind of people who ride amtrak dont have lawyers/can't afford lawyers for the most part. Truth be told

The amtrak conductor refused to let her pay on the train so they left them stranded out there with a baby. She clearly stated the reason, it was the conductor.

I have paid on the train before and known others who did ,so why couldn't they get on the train. No they were not moving their house either. They are allowed some carry ons, and they didn't have too mush.

What kind of an answer was that from Amtrak ? Proves the point farther that they don't care enough about people.

You never said why you were left on the platform.is it because you were moving your house with you? I will be the first to knock Amtrak when it is deserved, but you need to explain further.

She wasn't moving her house with her and wasn't carrying too much, she was going to pay on the train just as many other people have , she stated her reason why- it was the conductor, please read it over again so you will get the point. How would you feel if someone in your family was left stranded out on the platform in the rain with a baby. Swallow your ego and learn something :(

Amtrak in Sarasota, Florida - Auto train travel

Made a reservation, purchased a ticket and was refused entry to the car due to someone else having entered ahead of me with the same information. Accidents can happen but to be singled out to stand aside while Amtrak sort it out was disgusting. No attempt was made to compensate me for an amtrak personnel mistake which made me feel like a *** begging for a ride. As a senior citizen, honorably served veteran, it is pathetic. Poor personnel training in favor of profit, arrogance or both negates the service which is and should be the reason for autotrain's existence. Since amtrak's personnel did not acknowledge overbooking or an existence of a "quiet car", I'll have to say it is pot luck and expect poor service should anyone take the auto train. Beware of taking a beautiful car.
