In a train from Sacramento to Chicago. Train smells like a urinal and there's some sort of chemical smell pervading throughout. I boarded with my daughter for a busniess trip and within 24 hours we are both sick. I have never road a train before and I never will. My...

"being exposed to this."

Exposed to what? How do you know you were infected on a train?

I'm guessing if you're wasting time posting on a message board, you don't have the juice to get a corporate office to do anything for you.

Wallet stolen by train attendant - Amtrak covers it up!

If you decide to travel in a private room, my advice to you is - hold onto your valuables. We caught our train attendant, Pete, going through our things. He told us he was changing the sheets - an hour into the ride, with 5 more hours to go. At the end of the ride we realized that our wallet, which never left the room, was missing. What's worse - the train attendant actually asked us to wait 24 hours before doing anything, in case the wallet turns up. It didn't. We called customer service - they told us to call during the work week (it was Sunday.) We called on Monday - they opened a case and we haven't heard from them after that. A week later we called to follow up - and the representative told us that we should have called Amtrak police. Nobody told us this entity even existed. Very well, we reported the theft to Amtrak police, and today, two months after the incident, we are still waiting for the resolution. Oh, and the detective in charge of our case is now on a month-long vacation, and nobody else can touch his cases.

Amtrak always late, out of food

1.3
Details
Late, late , late. I have been tying Amtrak from Denver to Chicago. I get a sleeper and wait for a 7 pm train. It is always late. I am suppose to get into Chicago at 2 pm. It is never on time, usually 5 plus hours late. Since it is always late they should be able to plan food wise. Each time I have taken this trip, (4 times now) they run out of food. Nothing for lunch and nothing for dinner. I have tried to get off the train and get a car and Amtrak will not let me out. It stops for hours in the middle of nowhere. Another time I was taking the train I had a free trip because of my guest reward miles. Amtrak cancelled my ticket and booked another one at the station. Because of this I was flagged by the DEA. An agent knocked on my sleeper car and questioned me on why I was traveling by train, why I purchased a ticket at the station which I explained I did not do. The agent kept grilling me on why I was traveling by train. I am a CEO of a Educational Staffing Company and travel by train regularly because of inner ear problems with flying. The agent searched my room and all my luggage. I was never shown a search warrant.

I have to disagree with you. I have traveled california zepher many times, I would have to say this train has some of the nicest, sincere people working on a train. I have never had a problem with the customer service center--my word to you is treat them nice and maybe you would get the same respect.
