Well, it could have been worse. You could have taken the Greyhound Bus. I have known many passengers (myself included) who were so disgusted with everything that they got off of the bus and hitch-hiked the rest of the way to their destination, and got there alot quicker than if they had stayed on that dog.

Forgot to mention, my grandfather and father were railroad engineers (not Amtrak). I loved the ride and the relaxed style of travel, BUT not worth the health risk.

Afterwards an Amtrak ticket agent said it was my fault for not complaining.

Classy response huh. My opinion, you substantially risk your health if you travel Amtrak.

First, please don't consider this "Poor Customer Care" since your complaint involves other passengers and not the Amtrak crews. Amtrak did not provide you poor customer service, your fellow travelers lose all sense of respect and courtesy once that cell phone goes up to their ear.

I see it too, and it's really annoying. Amtrak used to have a rule about being loud. That rule has since been revoked and it is permissible to make pretty much whatever noise you wish...with one exception. The Quiet Car.

I praise the crews that enforce the Quiet Car. Many occasions, people have sat in this blessed haven of quiet and started yapping away without even considering that they are in a silent sanctuary. Once, the Conductor came in and reminded someone that they were in the quiet car and had to exit if they wanted to use their phone. The person agreed but once the conductor left, he started chatting it up again.

Just to get the point across, I hit him over the head with my walker. I told him that the nice man had just told him politely to shut the **** up.

I can't believe these reviews. What does your ticket have written on it?

If it says Business class, then that's the car you ride in. Surely you made the reservation. It's just as plain and simple as that. I've ridden on Amtrak business class many times and never had a problem and never encountered rude personal.

Maybe it's you who's being rude and obnoxious?

Go write your congressman. I'm sure he'll get right on that.

These are the same people that give local DMV a bad reputation. They dont give a crap about their passengers, they are rude, non-caring and just overall extremely unprofessional. Even in their VIP Club Acela (in Penn Station NYC) they have a click, joking, laughling boisterius, very unprofessional attitude; more like a ghetto attitude to be honest

Amtrak in New York, New York - Worst Billing Customer Service Ever

I was returning from New York back to Washington DC Saturday morning. The change in trains cost me an additional $32.00 for which I was prepared. I gave my debit card, got on board and the trip was fine...Until I checked my online banking statement to see that I was double charged. I called Amtrak and after 30 minutes on hold I finally spoke to someone, only to find out I had to be transferred to billing. After another 10 minutes in their *** I called my bank and found out they can handle it through a dispute after the charges clear and they (my bank) would give me an additional $32.00 credit until the dispute was cleared. Bottom line - Amtrak does not care about customers, only money. Thank you for nothing.
